Each year over President’s Day Weekend the High School and Middle School youth join with teenagers from many of the churches in our Presbytery for a winter retreat called Breakaway. It is a weekend where our teenagers have an opportunity to get away to get to know each other better, make new friends from other churches and be challenged in what it means to be followers of Jesus Christ. It is as weekend full of singing, talks from various youth pastors, seminars on living the Christian life, games, lots of free time and chances to share in small groups. The theme this year was “Superheroes Can’t Save You”. We looked at superheroes like Spiderman, Daredevil, Beast and Iron Man and how superheroes like that cannot save us. We looked at Justification, sanctification and glorification as a work of God and not us. The seminars and other activities of the weekend centered around this theme: looking at the masks we wear, how to really read and understand the Bible, how we are our own worst enemy, living out our faith in the sports arena, and a few other seminars. It was a great weekend to grow in our faith and get to know people from our own youth group and other churches. Thanks for praying for our youth. Enjoy pictures from this past Breakaway.
The Breakaway retreat is held at Blue Mountain Christian Retreat and Conference Center. It is a great facility with awesome food.
